CSIC Research Professor. Main research topic: Air quality in public transport systems and passenger exposure and microplastics characterisation. Geology Degree – Universidad Complutense Madrid; Earth Sciences PhD – Cardiff University (UK); Research Associate (Fulbright) – Colgate University (New York, USA); Research Associate – Cardiff University (UK). She has participated in 70 competitive projects (19 of them as PI, one EU funded project as coordinator), published >170 articles in SCI journals and contributed to > 30 books (4 as editor in the Geology of series from the Geol. Soc. of London). Director of the Inst. for Environmental Assessment and Water Resources (IDAEA-CSIC) 2018-2023, and Scientific Director of the project for Research Excellence Centre “Severo Ochoa” in IDAEA (4M€) 2019-2024. She is coordinator of Earth and Environment Research in CSIC since 2023, and coordinator of LIFE Area, one of the 3 Research Global Areas of CSIC, since 2025.
