Maria Izquierdo Ramonet

Description

PhD in 2005. Marie Curie fellow at the British Geological Survey (2yr) and postdoctoral research associate at Cranfield University (2yr) and at the University of Nottingham (3yr) before joining IDAEA in 2017. Her research focuses on the biogeochemical behaviour of trace elements in the geosphere and their transfer to and from other environmental reservoirs. She uses advanced ICP-MS techniques and isotopic tracers to gain mechanistic understanding of trace element dynamics and pathways into biological receptors in terrestrial ecosystems. Her ongoing work centres around atmosphere-soil interactions in urban environments. She has participated in 12 competitive projects (3 as PI). Research outputs include 60+ publications and 4000+citations. Secretary of Spanish Chapter of International Medical Geology Association and Editor-in-chief of IMGA Newsletter. Head of Geosciences Department of IDAEA since February 2025.
