JAE-Intro ICU fellow
Research group: Water, Environmental and Food Chemistry (ENFOCHEM)
Pol is currently working as a JAE Intro ICU Research Fellow in the Environmental and Food Chemistry Unit (ENFOCHEM) at the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA). His main tasks are the development and application of analytical methods to identify and quantify contaminants of emerging concern in wastewater samples, and to study the risk of those pollutants for the environment and the human health.
He holds a BSc in Chemistry by the Faculty of Physics and Chemistry of the University of Barcelona (UB). He is now completing an MSc in Molecular Biotechnology at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the UB. He completed an Erasmus+ fellowship at the "Giacomo Ciamician" Chemistry Department of the University of Bologna. During his stay there, he focused his research on optimizing the electrochemiluminescence of magnetic microbeads using nanomaterials for biosensor applications. He received a Youth Research Award in 2016 issued by Generalitat de Catalunya, Departament d’Empresa, Coneixement i Secretaria d’Universitats i Recerca.
