Pablo Zapata Corella
Research group: Chemometrics
Pablo Zapata was graduated in chemistry with a final project in stereoselective synthesis of fullerenecyclopenthenoates before focusing in environmental pollution. He got his masters degree with a final thesis titled “Presence of persistent organic pollutants in protected areas of the Iberian peninsula” developed in the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research.
After two years spent in the Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, from the Chinese Academy of Science (GIG-CAS), under the supervision of Dr. Xiaojun Luo and Dr. Bixian Mai, he went back to Barcelona in order to finish his doctoral thesis about ocurrence and distribution of organochlorinated pesticides and flame retardants in Spain and China.
His work is based on development of analytical methods based on gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry to detect and quantify micropollutants in environmental matrixes and their application in pollution monitoring of environmentally protected areas such as national parks or natural reserves.
-Graduated in Chemistry by the Complutense University of Madrid
-Masters degree in analytical chemistry by the University of Barcelona
-Languages: Spanish (native), English (B2), Chinese (A2), Catalan (B1).
