Miguel Ángel Marazuela
Description
Miguel Ángel Marazuela Calvo is a Tenured Scientist at the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA) of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Barcelona, Spain. He holds a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering, with a specialization in Hydrogeology, from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (2020). His research focuses on the numerical modelling of groundwater flow, and mass and heat transport in saline environments such as salt flats, salt lakes, and coastal or island aquifers, as well as in urban aquifers. His research addresses critical issues such as lithium mining in salt flats, geothermal energy, environmental tracers, wastewater and agricultural pollution, and nature-based solutions aimed at enhancing resilience to climate change and human pressures. His overarching goal is to support the sustainable management of water, energy, and mineral resources by providing solutions that strengthen climate resilience and mitigate anthropogenic impacts on water quality and availability.
