Marta Rusiñol Arantegui
Research group: Groundwater and Hydrogeochemistry
PhD in Environmental Microbiology and Biotechnology (UB) and Postdoctoral Researcher at the IDAEA-CSIC. Her studies focus in water analysis and sustainable water management, more specifically in fecal source tracking tools and the evaluation of virus dissemination in the environment. Over the last years her research focused on metagenomics and molecular based tools to identify and control emergent microbial contaminants in groundwater, air and soil within a circular economy of water (Urbanwat (JPI) and Unbiased (MICIN)). She is coautor of 26 indexed papers (17 in Q1) and 5 book chapters.
Rapidly, after declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic, she has been improving concentration and detection methods to study the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 RNA in wastewater under a Wastewater Based Epidemiology (WBE) approach. She is a part of the Catalan Surveillance Network of SARS-CoV-2 in Wastewater. She has written 2 COVID-19 papers and has 2 more under revision.
