Research group: Environmental Toxicology

Inma Fuertes has a bachelor degree in Chemistry (University of Valladolid (UVA); 2008-2014) and a Master in Environmental Pollution and Toxicology (University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU); 2014-2015). She enrolled the Environmental Toxicology group (Dr. Carlos Barata´s laboratory) in 2016 thanks to a FPI contract. Nowadays, she is developing her thesis “Evaluation of environmental risk based on mechanism of action: towards an omic solution for an effective management of chemical risks”) under the PhD program of the University of Barcelona in Analytical Chemistry and Environment. Her research is focused in the effects of endocrine disruptors and/or neuro-active pharmaceuticals on biota, using zebrafish (Danio rerio) and Daphnia Magna as models During her academic years, she has accumulated deep knowledge about several molecular biology techniques (RNAseq, Microarrays, qPCR) and a wide variety of analytical chemistry techniques for lipidomics and metabolomics (liquid chromatography coupled to different high resolution mass spectrometry analyzers). She also has developed skills in data treatment by bioinformatics methods
