I am a Post-Doctoral fellow at the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA) of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Barcelona, Spain. My current research focuses on the quantitative understanding and prediction of solute transport in porous media at the continuum scale (Darcy scale). My research combines theoretical elements and numerical simulations to shed light on the fundamental mechanisms underpinning solute transport in heterogeneous formations, with the final goal of predicting solute fate at larger spatial scales. In this context, due to the typical data sacristy and the ‘hidden’ nature of geological formations, special attention is devoted to the quantification of the uncertainty associated with the model predictions.
