Research group: Geochemistry and Pollution

My goal as a chemist is to impact and contribute to society through my research, that’s why I joined the Geochemistry & Pollution team at IDAEA on September 2020. During this time under Dr. Grimalt’s guidance I have taken part in different projects such as NEUROSOME and EDC-MED, among others.
The aim of my work is to analyze and study the concentration levels of different pollutants and pesticides in human blood, urine and sediments The main compounds assessed include polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), bisphenol-A, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), organochlorides, organophosphates and pyrethroids.
The analytical techniques that I get to work with include solid-phase extraction (SPE), gas chromatography (GC-ECD and GC-MS) and liquid chromatography (UHPLC-MS/MS).
