To develop their proposals, participants will receive guidance from experts in different fields
On Friday, September 19, starting at 6 p.m., the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales (MNCN) and the Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA), both part of CSIC, invite young people between the ages of 18 and 27 to the second edition of the project Ponte con el cambio climático. This initiative seeks to provide tools and space for young people to develop their own proposals to tackle the environmental crisis we are facing.
In this second edition, participants will enjoy monthly meetings with experts from different scientific fields, as well as with professionals in education, conservation, science communication, and outreach. At the first session, in addition to meeting the young participants from last year, researchers Cristina Ronquillo and Emilio Santiago will talk about how science works and the role of young people in society, as well as share how the environmental crisis personally affects them.
To take part in this project, prior registration is required before September 16 through this form, since places are limited. The aim of the event is to generate dynamics that allow participants to develop and give continuity to their ideas. It is about creating a space where participants can share their initiatives to engage society in facing climate change and the environmental crisis. Throughout the year, the MNCN and the IDAEA will provide their expertise to help develop these ideas.
“This is not about attending lectures; what we want is to generate synergies and help young people develop their initiatives. Moreover, in this second edition, thanks to funding from the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology, we now have a budget to put these proposals into practice, which adds an extra level of motivation and responsibility,” explains Pilar López García-Gallo, Deputy Director of Communication and Scientific Culture at the MNCN.
