IDAEA becomes part of the Clean Rivers Hub to clean and restore freshwater ecosystems

4 March 2021

The Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA-CSIC) is part of the Clean Rivers Hub, which aims to be the center of knowledge, methodologies, processes and tools for optimizing the positive impact efforts for cleaning and restoring freshwater ecosystems.

Having started in November 2020, the collaboration between IDAEA and Clean Rivers Hub is materialized through the researcher Ethel Eljarrat, who acts as the spokesperson. IDAEA provides experience to the Hub in the area of:

  • Presence and fate of pollutants in the water cycle and terrestrial environment
  • Impact of plastic pollution through their chemical additives
  • Analytical methods to determine micro- and nano-plastics
  • Bioaccumulation and biomagnification of contaminants through the food web
  • Human exposure to contaminants
  • Toxicity of contaminants
  • Contaminant remediation

Now, the Clean Rivers Hub has just released a brand new web page to let the world know that all entitities are adding value, knowledge, and/or technology to escalate the restoration of the fluvial ecosystems. –
