Yesterday, the IDAEA Deputy Director, Enric Vázquez-Suñé and the Strategic Project and Fundraising Officer, Mercé Ratera, attended the conference “Science for public policies in Spain” (Ciencia para las políticas públicas) in Madrid to show IDAEA’s policy-driving research data to recommend best practices, methods, data, and models scientifically validated.
Organised by the Joint Research Center of the European Commission and the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, in collaboration with FECYT, the objective of the conference was to present different Spanish initiatives dedicated to including scientific knowledge in the development and evaluation of public policies and to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the Spanish ecosystem of science for policy-making.
“We need to encourage politicians to incorporate the scientific advise into public policies”, declared the CSIC President, Eloisa del Pino, during the meeting.
Vázquez-Suñé participated in session III Towards a cultural change: how to involve the scientific community and public managers. The session focused on the greater collaboration required between public managers, the scientific community, society, and political leaders to face social challenges.
