Damià Barceló receives the Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Almería

Last Friday, 6th May, the researcher Damià Barceló, from the ENFOCHEM group and director of the Institut Català de Recerca de l’Aigua (ICRA), was awarded with the Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Almería (UAL). The rector Carmelo Rodríguez highlighted “his international prestige, his contributions to the environmental field of research, and particularly, to the management and quality of water, participating to tackle climate change at a global level”.

Barceló has been collaborating with the UAL for many decades. “His labour can be translated as an efficiency in the use and treatment of water, much admired worldwide”, continued the UAL rector in the ceremony. “He is one of most outstanding researchers on environment in our country and a world leader in the detection and solution of pollution problems in water cycles”, concluded Carmelo Rodríguez.
