The AWA Monitoring project has received the second prize in the University category of the Santander X Spain Awards 2025, a competition that recognises the most innovative and high-potential business ideas from universities, start-ups and scale-ups in Spain.
Developed by researchers Evgeny Bulatov and Sílvia Lacorte, AWA Monitoring was recognised for its Ceramic Passive Sampler (CPS) technology, which enables integrated water monitoring over time. CPS devices provide an efficient tool for tracking water quality and detecting emerging contaminants.
“This recognition highlights the value and importance of applying the advanced scientific knowledge developed at the IDAEA-CSIC to the water sector,” said Evgeny Bulatov, IDAEA researcher and CEO of AWA Monitoring.
