We are looking for a PhD candidate to research the traffic-bounded pollution in Barcelona under the TRACE work frame (Traffic-Related Aerosol Characterization and Emissions). The focus will be to characterize the urban traffic aerosol with advanced instrumentation (ACSM, Xact, SMPS…) and machine-learning techniques.
The selected candidate will work in a multidisciplinary and international research environment, contributing to the assessment of atmospheric pollution and its effects on health and climate.
What do we look for?
- Qualifications
Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Physics, Environmental Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Data Science, Geology, or related disciplines.
- Competences
Programming skills, interest in machine learning techniques.
Ability to work in an organised, rigorous, and collaborative manner.
Good oral and written English skills.
Motivation to develop a PhD thesis in an international and multidisciplinary research environment.
Working conditions
- Contract duration: 4 years
- Estimated annual gross salary: Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
- Target start date: 01/09/2026
