The Institute of Environmental Assessment and Water Research (IDAEA-CSIC) is seeking a postdoctoral candidate to apply for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026 call.

The selected candidate will develop a fellowship proposal under the supervision of Dr. Ana Maria Yáñez-Serrano, within the Environmental Geochemistry and Atmospheric Research (EGAR) group at IDAEA-CSIC (Barcelona, Spain), one of Europe’s leading research groups in atmospheric chemistry, air quality and environmental health.

The proposed research will investigate the occurrence and composition of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in rainwater and their implications for ecosystem processes in Mediterranean environments. The project will combine atmospheric chemistry, ecosystem science and advanced analytical techniques to improve our understanding of VOC cycling between the atmosphere and terrestrial ecosystems.

What do we look for?

Qualifications

A PhD degree in Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Atmospheric Sciences, Ecology, Physics, Earth Sciences, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.

Professional experience

Experience with laboratory work, environmental monitoring and/or data analysis will be considered an advantage.

Competences

  • Programming and data-analysis skills (e.g., Wavemtrics, R, Python or similar) are desirable.
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English.

We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic and collaborative researcher with strong analytical skills and motivation to develop innovative research ideas within an interdisciplinary scientific environment.

In particular, candidates must hold a PhD degree by the call deadline; have a maximum of 8 years of research experience, and comply with MSCA PF Mobility Rule, available in the “2.3.2. Recruited researchers” section of the Work Programme MSCA 2026-2027

  • Salary: According to the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships funding scheme and institutional regulations
