Environmental Geochemistry and Atmospheric Research (EGAR)

Home Departments Group Geosciences Environmental Geochemistry and Atmospheric Research (EGAR)

The main objectives of this research sub-topic are the qualitative and quantitative evaluation of levels and composition of atmospheric pollutants, as well as the study of their source origin and of atmospheric processes producing or modifying aerosols. Research is being done on both natural (African dust, sea spray,…) and anthropogenic atmospheric pollutants. The applications refer to the interaction of aerosols and climate, to their impact on health, and to the information for devising pollution abatement strategies.

Other objectives of this research group are the study of the environmental impact of coal utilization and on the valorization of combustion/gasification by-products.
