Home Departments Group Environmental Chemistry Pollutants and Human Health

This group is devoted to analyze persistent organic pollutants and methylmercury in human samples such as hair, sera, urine, cord blood, breast milk and meconium. The line is developed in close contact with epidemiologist. These are responsible for sampling and discussion of the results in terms of the deleterious effects of these compounds. The research on the toxic effects resulting from the environmental exposure to compounds that are potentially harmful to humans is still pending of many aspects for clarification. The results obtained in experimental animals cannot be extrapolated directly due to differences in relative dose and metabolism.
