“Powerful presentations” workshop

The team of Performing Ideas offers the Powerful Presentations workshop for IDAEA PhD students who want to improve their presentation skills and learn new techniques.

During this oral communication workshop, facilitators will explain how to design and deliver different types of speeches and presentations successfully, using proven rhetorical devices as a means of persuasion. Attendees will learn how to structure ideas, sharpen their message, and confidently answer questions from the audience.

Topics that will be covered during the workshop:

  • Defining your core message
  • The structure of the presentation
  • How to keep the public’s attention
  • Interactions with the public
  • Artwork design
  • Management of nervousness
  • Body language, posture, gestures, voice, and eye contact
  • Storytelling
  • How to make numbers interesting

About the facilitators:

  • Ana Paola López
    For the past 13 years, she has advised governments and organisations on innovation, problem-solving, sustainability, and resilience in more than 10 countries. She helps individuals and organisations strengthen their leadership skills, specifically on how to innovate and how to express their ideas convincingly and confidently.
  • Monica Ixchel Castillo Salgado  
    Monica is a Political Scientist, Educator, Actress, and Dancer from Mexico living in Barcelona. She began working as a research intern at the United Nations Association of the USA in New York City. Further, Monica has a degree in Theatre and a degree certificate in Physical Theatre and Corporeal Mime. Monica´s theatre training also includes the study of improvisation techniques, which she has taught at several companies in the United States and Europe.
  • Alyssa Ciccarello
    Alyssa has been training speakers for over 15 years, from Columbia University and the Actors Studio in New York to Kadir Has in Istanbul and the Stockholm School of Economics in Sweden, as well as a range of corporate clients from all sectors. As a communications coach, her deepest interest is to find the most efficient and effective way for each person to be heard through the medium of their unique voice.
