The third edition of the International Field Course on Physical Volcanology, organised by the Natural Risks Assessment and Management Service (NRAMS)located at the Institute of Environmental Diagnosis and Water Research (IDAEA-CSIC), will take place from 16th to 20th March 2026, in Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain)

This immersive five-day field course explores the spectacular volcanic landscapes of Tenerife, from its ancient shield volcano to the pre- and post-caldera edifices. Through a combination of theoretical explanations and hands-on practical exercises directly in the field, participants will learn to characterise a wide range of plutonic, subvolcanic, and volcanic deposits, and to apply key methodologies for data collection and volcanic process interpretation.

Course fee: 800 €

  • All lectures and fieldwork sessions

Please note: the fee does not include travel to/from Tenerife, accommodation, or daily meals.

Physical condition: Good physical condition is required, but no advanced hiking experience is necessary. Field days involve moderate walking across diverse terrains.
