Water Innovation Europe 2016

With over 200 participants from all around Europe, Water Innovation Europe is the landmark event for the European water sector. The event brings together all the aspects of the sector: scientists and technology developers, utility representatives, large water users, European and national/ regional policy makers and finance experts. Water Innovation Europe offers an open platform for information gathering and networking among the most influential stakeholders from within and beyond the water sector.

Athens Declaration

Mediterranean Ministers recently adopted the Athens Declaration, in which they pledged to implement the instruments, programmes, action plans and guidelines adopted at Barcelona Convention CoP19 - to prevent pollution from maritime transport, marine exploration, and land-based activities, protect biodiversity, manage coastal zones, and increase the resilience of the Mediterranean to the impacts of climate change - as crucial means for the achievement of the objectives of the Barcelona Convention and its Protocols.

FACCE-JPI adopts new priorities to solve the challenges of sustainable agriculture

Solutions, methods and tools developed in and for Europe are, therefore, relevant at a global scale. The Joint Programming Initiative on Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change (FACCE-JPI) identifies innovative solutions applicable at the European scale down to the local level and supports European policies and initiatives.

FAO International Symposium on the Role of Agricultural Biotechnologies in Sustainable Food Systems and Nutrition

The international symposium was held in FAO headquarters in Rome from 15 to 17th February 2016. It explored how the application of science and technology, particularly agricultural biotechnologies, can benefit smallholders in developing sustainable food systems and improving nutrition in the context of climate change. The symposium took a multisectoral approach, covering the crop, livestock, forestry and fishery sectors.
