The Mediterranean Science, Policy, Research & Innovation Gateway MED-SPRING project - is a coordination and support action (FP7 - INCO.2012-1.3/ Mediterranean Partner Countries). The project, built on the previous experience of the INCO.NET MIRA, but adapted to the new reality of the Euro-Mediterranean policy and the general orientations defined in the Euro-Mediterranean Conference of Barcelona (2-3 April 2012), is focused on three societal challenges (Energy, High Quality Affordable Food, and Scarcity of resources) and aims at tackling policy objectives by creating a dialogue and coordination platform of governmental institutions, research organisations, associations and civil society.

Euro-Mediterranean Expert Group

The "Euro-Mediterranean Expert Group" (EMEG) is constituted of 45 experts, grouped in three sub-theme respectively with resource efficiency (water), high quality affordable food and energy. Read more.

 

Euro-Mediterranean Observatories

Platform of Mediterranean observatories linking, describing and analyzing the research and innovation potential and policies in selected areas where societal challenges for policy dialogue have been identified, to support monitoring policy development and cooperation. Read more.

The network of National Contact Points (NCPs) is the main structure to provide guidance, practical information and assistance on all aspects of participation in Horizon 2020. Read more.

MEDSPRING past events

On July 6th and 7th, MEDSPRING organizes in Brussels (BE) a two-days event, hosted by the European Commission. The "Annual Meeting of the General Assembly" will be held on July 6th, while the Final Conference "The MedSpring legacy for Euro-Mediterranean Cooperation on R&I”, will be held on July 7th. The venue is at the A. Borschette Congress Center (CCAB) - European Commission - Rue Froissart 36, in Brussels.

The "1st Euro-MedHackathon: Eco-Efficiency in the Agro-Food Chain" will take place in Amman (Jordan) from 14th to 15th December 2016. The 2-day event has been organized by MedSpring and will be hosted by HCST, in collaboration with STRD-II programme, MHESR, and CIHEAM-IAMB.

EU-MPC Societal challenges

The MED-SPRING project foresees a comprehensive analysis of selected societal challenges and will address capacity building to increase research capacity, shared knowledge and cooperation. Other horizontal issues, as socio-economic sustainability, climate variability, governance and research system capacity, gender, demographic growth and innovation development around societal challenges will also be treated.
